The Structure of Wall and the Way of Building
The Structure of Wall
There are two usual classifications of wall, one is that four walls are all made by stone, another is three stone walls with one made by fir.
Surface of wall
Some have walls built carefully using even stones and herringbone brickwork in "Ren character", "Guang character" or "Ding character" construction method. Laying stones in 45 degree herringbone pattern which resembles the Chinese character of "Ren (人)", or laying evenly and horizontally which resembles the Chinese character of "Guang(工)" or "Ding (丁) ." Others employ a relatively haphazard stacking of smaller stones atop larger ones, they are not so exquisite.
Door and Window
Door and window are also important elements of stone architecture. They are all made by fir. Considering the strong wind and pirates were rampant in early times, the opening of the window is small. Because the houses which built carefully using even stones and herringbone brickwork are beautiful and exquisite, also with complicated method and lots of money, they are usually the houses of the wealthy. While the houses of most ordinary people, they have low demand for the look of houses, they employ a relatively haphazard stacking of smaller stones atop larger ones. But nowadays, people think that the houses built with haphazard size of stones are more charming and precious.
