Materials of Traditional Architecture

There was a lack of supplies in early stages. People took local materials, such as thatch and awn, to make simple houses. People became wealthy after getting rich fishery harvesting, so they invited the craftsmen from Fuzhou, Lienchiang and Changle to help them build stone houses with granite and fir from the mainland. But there were also some stone materials from local Matsu.

Every old house has its own story. Every stone was chiseled from hard cliff and made into stone brick, then built with mud, lime and glutinous rice. Every house was built with sweat of hardworking ancestors.
