Mindong Style Architecture

Mindong, literally "eastern Fujian", architecture is made up of granites. The style of the village is lively and various because of the landform. The source of traditional Matsu houses is from Fujian and Zhejiang area, and they were mainly influenced by Eastern Fujian architecture.

Breathing Houses

There are usually interlayers in the roof for storage space. The roof is spread with tiles and the stones are placed on the top of them instead of sticking by cement or glue. It because that stones can avoid tiles lifting by strong wind, and people can also fix or change tiles easily. The ordered way of laying granite stones makes good ventilation and thus Mindong architecture has earned the praise of "breathing houses."
