<Results of the questionnaire>

According to the charts above, our respondents have different gender, career, age and educational background.

From the chart, we could see that most people go to work/school by bus, MRT, or on foot. However, the number of people using bicycles is bigger than the number of people using cars and motorcycles. From these numbers, we could tell that people tend to commute in a more economical and environmental-friendly way.

This pie chart represents that nearly 80% people have used Youbike before. We could guess that riding bicycles might become a trend in the future.

According to the chart, we could found that people do not use Youbike very often. We think there might be two reasons:there are not enough stations and the traffic in Taipei is too heavy, which may cause accidents.

The chart shows that more than a half of people had to wait for several minutes to get a Youbike. The efficiency should be improved and the number of bicycles should increase.

According to the chart above, most people use Youbike for commuting and exercising.

The main reason why people chose to use Youbike was because they could rent Youbike at one station and return it at another station. The reasonable price was also an advantage of Youbike.

According to the survey, about half of the people are satisfied with Youbike. Though, some people wish that Youbike could add an umbrella holder and enlarge its basket.

From the chart above, we could see that most people think there are not enough stations, bicycles, and especially bicycle lanes. It is dangerous for bicycle riders to ride on the road or sidewalk, since it may cause accidents. The government should add more bicycle lanes in places with many cars and tourists.

According to the chart, many people think that being environmental-friendly is the most important advantage of riding Youbike. The low price is another advantage, however, the government have decided to increase the fee of the first 30 minutes from free to 5 NTD.

The survey shows that more than a half of people think when setting bicycle lanes, the government should consider the local conditions and have different policies. Bicycle lanes should be set either on the road or in other places, depending on its conditions.

We could know from the chart that people think the government should add more bicycle facilities, and promote the education and policies about bicycle safety.

From the former survey, we could know that people think bicycle lanes should be set according to its local condition. And the chart above shows that most people think that bicycle lanes should be set along the main roads. Also many of our respondents, probably mostly students, think there should be bicycle lanes set near schools. It would be easier for people to commute if there are enough bicycle lanes set along the MRT stations.

According to the pie chart above, more than a half of people agree to cancel some parking spaces, but also a lot of people don’t agree with the idea. People who said yes to the idea might be people who use the public transportations very often; and those who go to work by cars and scooters might not agree to this idea.

According to the chart above, more than a half of people are satisfied with this project. By doing these researches and analysis, we wish to let more people know what the public really thinks about this project, so that we could think of improvements all together and make the Youbike project a better policy.
