Lovely Volunteers

Immaculate Heart Center for Mentally Handicapped is like a big family. Its members include priests, sisters, teachers, staff, and a group of lovely volunteers. Those volunteers help to feed the disabled students, hold activities at the Center, push the wheelchairs while the students go out, take care of the students, cut the students' hair for free, and even read stories for them. They do so many things for the Center without asking reward. They are all great people.

On the seventeenth anniversary of Immaculate Heart Center for Mentally Handicapped, Priest Zhang praised the volunteers. He said that because of our love, the students here could grow happily. From the year of 2000, more and more volunteers helped to make Kimchi to raise money. Therefore the new building could be completed in 2008. It was everybody’s efforts. He would like to share the joy with all the staff and volunteers. He told them that their dream finally came true.(Reported by Li jinfan)

The following is volunteers' words:

Yang Yu: Seeing the students studying in the new classrooms, I feel very happy! As long as the students have a good learning environment, my hard working is worthy!

Cai Wang Yu Yun: Because the spirit of love for God, I came here to make Kimchi. I always prayed to God that the construction of new building can go on smoothly. Then, the students can have larger space. They don’t have to study in a crowded classroom anymore. They don’t have to suffer the leaking classroom. I also prayed to God to let me stay healthy, thus, I can do more meaningful things to our society. By the way, my foot disease got healed after I took part in the volunteer activities here. Thank God !

Jhang Dong Cai: In the past, we peeled the radish and cut the radish and scallion by hands under the banyan tree in Tsau Gang village. Athough it’s hard work, I do it with joy. Now, with the help of machines, our speed of making Kimchi is faster. Happy! Seeing the kids having a new classroom, I feel a sense of accomplishment!

Jhang Wei Chuan: Congratulations to the students at Immaculate Heart Center for Mentally Handicapped. I am happy that they can move to the new building! As soon as I heard that Sister You had the idea of making Kimchi to raise money for the new building, I decided to be a volunteer here without hesitation. As a Catholic, I think that doing my best to help the Center is significant.

Dong Lai Jhen:Happy! Happy! I am so happy! Making Kimchi can help others, and it also makes me happy while helping others. The teachers here treat children very carefully and patiently. I am very touched, so I am willing to pay for the children here.

Gai Huang Siou Luan: In the beginning, I came here to help feed the disabled students, push the wheelchair while the students had outdoor activities. Day by day, I found Sister You and teachers' love for children, I am moved! Helping others is the source of joy!
