We visited Aunt Barber.

◣ 1.How long have you cut those students' hair at Immaculate Heart Center for Mentally Handicapped?

More than ten years. I began to cut their hair in 1997 or 1998.

◣ 2.Do you also believe in Catholic?

I am a Christian - True Jesus Church.

◣ 3.Why did you want to go to Immaculate Heart Center for Mentally Handicapped to cut those students' hair free?

Ten years ago, a teacher of Lu Ming junior high school, called Ye jihau, encouraged me to be a volunteer at the Center. He was a volunteer at Immaculate Heart Center for Mentally Handicapped, too. I was a hair designer when I was young. So I started to go to Immaculate Heart Center for Mentally Handicapped to cut those students' hair free. At that time, a sister called Chang siannan, led the disabled students to pick up plastic bottles and paper boxes for recycling. I was touched by her. So I continued to go to Immaculate Heart Center for Mentally Handicapped to cut those students' hair free.

Aunt Barber answered our questions.

◣ 4. Will your family or friends follow you to be a volunteer at the Center?

Yes. My husband often goes to Immaculate Heart Center for Mentally Handicapped to be a driver.

◣ 5.Where did you also serve as a volunteer?

I often go to nursing homes, National Hemei Experimental School, Changhua Christian Hospital and Bu Li nursing home to be a volunteer.

◣ 6. What is the attitude of your family for free haircut?

They supported my decision. Because of their support, I have more confidence in myself.

◣7.Do you have any feelings about free haircut?

The students really touched me. Because of them, I know how lucky I am. If the family has a kid with disabilities, it is very miserable, and parents have to suffer much pains.

Aunt Barber told us her story at the Center.

◣8.Did you ever meet the students who require a special hairstyle?

Yes. Although they are people with disabilities, they still want to have a nice-looking hairstyle.

◣9.How did you deal with the situation if a student involuntarily moved?

I would try my best a little faster, not to hurt their head, and let the hairstyle as good-looking as I could. I hope to bring them joy.

◣10.Did you worry if the disabled students were not satisfied with the hair styles?

Yes. I was quite worried about this at first . Most of them had physical disabilities, and their bodies are not symmetric. So when I cut, I will be very nervous. But I will pray for God silently. Amazingly, they will behaved themselves to let me cut smoothly.

◣11. Finally, what was your biggest gain in free haircuts these years?

I mentioned a point in the beginning of the interview. I am a cancer patient. When I saw these kids’ smile, I was encouraged.

We took a picture with Aunt Barber and her husband.

Aunt Barber was very shy in the beginning. After we sincerely requested her to help us, finally we met her at her house. Although Aunt Barber has serious illness, she still helps others everywhere. We are touched and she inspired us to move on.

Aunt’s husband not only supported her volunteering, but also followed her to be the driver for Immaculate Heart Center for Mentally Handicapped. Aunt Barber said, “I am grateful for the support of my husband. I love him very much.”

Aunt Barber suggested us to do the posture of love.

The lovely couple often do volunteering service at the Center and other institutions. They never give up no matter whether shine or rain. While cutting hair for the disabled students at the Center, she does the job patiently and carefully. We want to show our high respect for her.
