◣1.How long have you worked here?

About 10 years.

◣2.What have you gained here?

I have gained a lot here. Although it can get pretty busy, but I felt happy.

◣3.How do you prepare food for those who couldn't chew their food?

I used a blender to process the food into paste of two kinds of consistency. The rough paste will be grainy with bits of rice, meats or vegetables in it. The fine paste will be a smooth puree which allows children with poor swallowing abilities to take in food more easily.

◣4.Why did you come here to work as a cook?

I had been ill and was unable to go out and work. So, I thought I could come here and help prepare food for the children. The adorable children here are the drive that kept me working here ever since.

◣5.Had you ran into any problems?

Yes, since I am the only one in charge of the children's meals, it's a challenge planning the meals and thinking up new recipes. I didn't want the kids eating the same food over and over again. On top of that, I only have 3 hours to prepare the meals and there are a lot of mouths to feed. It gets really busy.

◣6.What are the things which made you most happy while working here?

The sight of the children enjoying the meals I prepared for them is a great joy to me.

Today, we volunteered at Immaculate Heart Center. We helped the Center cook, Ms. Hsu Meiying and also interviewed her. From the interview, we found that Ms. Hsu is a hard- working and responsible person. She took great care in the preparing of each and every dish. We also learned that being a cook at the Center is no easy job. Not only does Ms. Hsu have to prepare delicious meals for the staff and students of the Center within a limited time, she also has to be extremely careful. Because a minor slip may ruin the entire dish. On top of that, Ms. Hsu also had to process foods so that students with chewing and swallowing difficulties can take in food more easily. I think Ms. Hsu is a fantastic cook and she is doing a fabulous job!
