Bistro Le Pont is a restaurant in Chaozhou St., with French-restaurant appearance but offering Taiwanese cuisine of goose. The owner has studied in France, and thus decorated the restaurant as French one and offered different flavor wine. The most popular dish is goose in original or tea flavor. Another popular dish is French fries, which is different from what we usually have. The French fries is fried with goose oil; crispy and strong potato flavor. The menu is also very special; the price is both in NT dollar and European dollar.
Combination of Chinese and French cuisines
The owner told us that French restaurant has different levels. Bistro means a small restaurant offering wine and local cuisines; Le Pont means “bridge” in French. The owner thinks that the delicacy is the bridge of different culture; you will understand the local culture after having the local fine food. Thus, the owner decorates the restaurant in French style to attract more foreigners to let them enjoy the local goose dishes in their familiar environment. The owner’s great thought is appreciated very much.
A bliss restaurant
“It should be bliss to have delicious food,” said the owner. Indeed, it is very impressive and direct to experience the pure touch through the taste bud. It’s a big enjoy when sitting in the delicate French restaurant to have great Taiwanese goose dishes to understand the considerate and attentive bliss.
Insist in belief
The owner has two beliefs: bring the sweet and salty Taiwan southern flavor into their dishes to keep the traditional style; the ingredients should be fresh. The owner said that the ingredients are purchased every morning; fresh ingredients should make the dishes delicious. Every dish here shows the owner’s talent, insistence and consideration.
Promote Taiwanese cuisine to the world
When studying abroad, the owner hoped to promote Taiwanese cuisines to the world. After coming back to Taiwan, he made the traditional goose dishes as high-class cuisine in French restaurant, combining Chinese and Western culture and totally breaking our traditional impression about goose dish shop. He wants that foreigners will love Taiwanese goose dishes. Now, Bistro Le Pont offers “Goose Fat” which has been sold abroad and let the world understand Taiwanese goose.
Lovely story
The owner shared a story with us. A Hong Kong customer came to Bistro Le Pont. She sat at the corner lonely since her friend did not show up for a long time. The owner treated her to comfort her, and chatted with her. She left happily eventually although her friend did not show up at the end. After one month, the customer brought her friend back to Bistro Le Pont and she also sent a gift to the owner and staff to express her appreciation.
