The “The Nine Prodigies of Huangsi” demonstrated Chinese calligraphy to send out love for all
→Reflection
1. Activity background: Master calligraphers were invited to demonstrate calligraphy in public to produce one calligraphic work for Chingsau Elementary School to sell for charity. In addition, these calligraphers wrote Spring Festival couplets with ink brushes to bring the Chingsau community more warmth, love, and permeating cultural atmosphere. 2. Activity date and venue: Date: January 7th, 2014 |
3. Activity content:
First of all, the “The Nine Prodigies of Huangsi” Chairperson Mr. Chuang Hung-liang presented awards to winners of the coloring competition. Becoming acquainted with the “The Nine Prodigies of Huangsi” through the colouring competition, and further having the honour to get close to one of them, as well as watching these calligraphers demonstrate calligraphy was a quite unique experience for the students.
In addition to the attending 11 members of the The Nine Prodigies of Huangsi, Chinese Calligraphy lovers Chun-yao Yu and Yi-chuan Chan were invited to demonstrate Chinese calligraphy and collaborate to hit the love gong, which was immersed with cultural atmosphere, for our activities such as selling calligraphic works for charity, financing Amitofo Care Center, and supporting the scheme of “delivering Mandarin Daily News to mountains”.
Right after a group photo was taken, scrolls after scrolls of calligraphic works and Spring Festival couplets were produced one after another, and endless exclamations and praises were received from head-nodding and approving parents, students, and volunteers, who had been observing and waiting in excitement nearby. Successively, many parents voluntarily donated to purchase these calligraphers’ artworks.
While calligraphers were producing their artworks in public, Class 503 students played the recorder together. Ya-ting, who had been learning the plucked stringed instrument Zhongruan for four years, presented us the music “Lead Water to Mountain Slopes” with rich Chinese elements. Hsin-yu also went up to the stage to play the song “Riding on the Wings of Dreams” on the flute.
4. Afterthoughts:
Watching so many calligraphers write calligraphy at the same time, which should be a static activity, was however turned into a spectacular festivity that made our hearts race like thousands of wild horses or surge forward like a torrential tide as a result of everyone’s working as one and contributing each person’s best ability.
