Grade 3-4 students participated in a coloring competition: coloring the cartoon-version self-portraits of the “The Nine Prodigies of Huangsi”. These cartoon-version portraits were designed by student Yi-Chen with home computer graphics software and the assistance of his/her mother. Besides, the self-portraits were accompanied by a calligraphic version and a Christmas version. Portraits of the three versions all had a lifelike look yet child-taste amusing design.
On Christmas Eve, teachers let Class 503 students had a rehearsal with Cyberfair students as barricade keepers. When the actual game began on Tuesday, Class 503 students acted as barricade keepers to have articulate explanations of game rules in spirited atmosphere. On the other hand, students responsible for selling “Continual Fortune” paper clay artworks and postcards for charity shouted out their most resonant and enthusiastic voice to encourage other teachers and fellow students to express their great love for people in need.
4. Afterthoughts
Top three finalists of the coloring competition and students who finished the barricade-breaking games were eligible for a lucky draw! In the seemingly simple barricade-breaking games, students nevertheless not only learned a great deal of knowledge in calligraphy, but also the practical applications and variations of calligraphy. As the game host, we learned that it was never easy to organize an event as well as the wisdom of getting along with people and dealing with matters. It was a special experimental class for us.
