Book Introduction::

Inspired by the concept “Anti-globalization”, over 300 City Yeast members started to observe balconies throughout Taipei. They try to change the lazy and messy style of the balconies by clearing out balconies to let the sun shine through, soften the stiff iron bars, and to blend balconies into citizens’ lives. Will the changes of balconies make our city more beautiful and interesting? We should start changing our balconies to improve relationships between people. Through observing our balconies, we see the relationship between individuals, families and the city. Our balconies are the places that connect us together, our home, our neighbors, our society, our city, and US. Creativity starts from the dreams in your heart. Come on and share it to all of us!

Feedback:

Balconies bridge the outside and the inside part of a house, they gave people extremely different feelings about them. Don’t know when, everyone starts to build steel windows on the balcony. It not only lengthens the distance from people to people but also makes the whole city less sense of hospitality. City Yeast makes the busy city more and more humanize. More than 300 creative designers determined to change the appearance of the balconies; they use the color”green” for the whole city and let balconies enter our life. Through balconies, we can see the relationship between a single person, his family and the whole city. Therefore, we can see them trigger more other possibilities. After reading this book, the first thought come into my mind is that they are awesome! Such many “Yeast”, they all gather together and think about how to improve our city. Those ideas are mostly creative and I cannot think of. Before they start, there might be a little bit of difficulties to realize they’re thoughts. Isn’t improving the balconies just like a flower in the corner of a city, more and more beautiful?
