One of our members found a new event in the City Yeast website- Meet Taipei: Design - [Super City‧Rich Forum]—an activity discussing about Taipei's future plan and direction. Five members decided to participate this forum, hoping to get help from the professionals.

Stepping into outdoor plaza from the air-conditioned room of the second floor of Hankyu Department Store, with the summer wind coming from straight ahead, it is really comfortable when you walked out of the room with an idea of “having a walk outside” ! Though the square is equipped with stage, but the forum is conducted in the center of the square which bridged the gap between “speakers” and “audience”. It allows the entire participant to join the interaction and enhance the sense of participation for flaring creative spark.

During the lecture, we imagined and talked about infinite possibilities of the future. Among city observers of each field, Ching-yueh Ruan, Wei-gong Liu, Mei-guang Li, Yu-ju Chou had their cross-field conversation in the outdoor lecture. They opened the interesting conversation between each person and the residence by combining moving moments of design, life, literature, limbs and creation by weaving prologues for prospect of the city.

    Reflections

During hot summer, people in Taipei have developed a habit of watching TV, playing phone in air-conditioned room. It is really rare to have a seat outside in the night of midsummer to feel the comfortable temperature here, which is really memorable. Hearing the improved condition of Taipei discussed by art professionals, enable us to think “as a resident of Taipei, what can I do for this city?”. Though some of the content is kind of extreme, professional points are still thought-provoking. Some people probably stumbled upon this event, holding the attitude of “listening” and found a place to sit, however, most people leave with smile on their faces.
