From Participants

After joining the information group, my typing speed has become "faster", and my composition ability has improved; I learned a lot from this group. Actually this is not the first time I’ve joined this group, I also joined last year. But this year, I mostly volunteered, and participating in this group can let me understand a lot of things I did not know before. For instance, through the theme “Xisong rhythm band,” I learned a lot of things I did not know before. This group helped me to "completely understand" a lot of things I only partially knew, so the positives of joining Cyberfair project outweigh the negatives by several hundred times!

I wanted to join because I think this Cyberfair project is very interesting, because other than myself, there were three other participants from my class. I was actually a little bit curious. We went to the practice location of the rhythm band a lot of times, and observed them many times, writing down a lot of reflections. We also interviewed a lot of rhythm band students and teachers. I worked very hard writing reflections. We watched the rhythm band play together, and I feel that they worked very hard to perform a song well, and the teacher also worked harder than usual to show up. After their performance, we gave questionnaires to their parents. At the Cyberfair project I learned a lot, like; how to play the accordion, melodica, cymbals, and how to look up and organize data, etc.

We’ve been in this information team for two or three months. During this time, many interesting things happened. We interviewed teachers, rhythm band team members, and watched the rhythm band practice, etc. Their practice is very hard, but when they all play together, I would feel that their hard work is worth it, because it sounds really good. These are my memories.

My main impression was interviewing the teachers, like the Principal, Teacher Chih-yen Huang, and Teacher Min-hui Yang. There were a lot of things that I needed improvement with because I didn’t do well, but there were also some things that I did do well.

After I participated in this activity, I think I improved in my computer abilities, even though I worked very hard, it is really worth it. In the past I did not like to type, because I always had to type one or two hundred at a time. But now I don’t mind it, and would do my best. I also hope that in the future my computer performance can be better – because of this activity, I like computers even more now. Even though I was only a little bit interested in the rhythm band, after our information team researched the rhythm band, I know more about rhythm band and am more interested in it. We want to thank the teacher’s guidance, and hope that we can do well this time.

At first, I was just a new student who didn’t know what to do, but with the guidance from my classmates, I gradually adapted to these things. First, we collected information on rhythm band webpages from Cyberfair, then we set the theme. After a while, we went to watch the rhythm band play and write our reflections. For these reflections, every day we all become very busy. After a while, we went to interview the choir’s Teacher Chih-yen Huang and Teacher Min-hui Yang, who gave us information that helped further our understanding. Then, we gave questionnaires to students and parents to make the information more precise. When it was almost complete, I found that the Cyberfair project is not very difficult, because we only have to sacrifice some lunch breaks to focus on Cyberfair project to make perfect works. Go, everyone!

Whenever copying or typing reflections, I did not know how to type to make it more smooth, but I found that if I refer to the articles or content by other people, and make some changes, I can make my own sentences. As for the trip for experiencing musical instruments, at the time I couldn’t play the accordion but I had to keep trying until I almost cried. But I have to thank the classmate next to me, she worked hard to teach me and I learned how to play the accordion. In the Cyberfair project, I experienced different things in the universe, and at the same time felt it was very fun!

After joining the Cyberfair project, lunch time breaks disappeared very quickly. Our theme is the rhythm band, so at noon I would watch the rhythm band practice. Sometimes we could experience the instruments too, and the students in the rhythm band would teach us how to use the instruments. But I really had no idea with instruments, and I couldn’t learn them. Participating in the Cyberfair project not only allowed me to learn how to make webpages, but also helped me to interview teachers I didn’t know, which improved my techniques for talking to strangers and my typing speed. The first time I interviewed the rhythm band, I was nervous, and when I went to the rhythm band, there were lots of eyes staring at me, so I still felt a little weird. When we visited the rhythm band, we often started laughing when we played; it is find for practice, but it would be bad if we laughed in a competition. I think it is hard work to do the Cyberfair project, because we needed to interview the principal, teacher, rhythm band students, and write research reflection and make the webpage theme, and discuss the questionnaire questions. Thinking back, it was a lot of hard work. The so-called "sacrifice the individual to complete the collective" spirit means to contribute to the Cyberfair project.

At first I was forced by the teacher, so I did not feel confident or certain about this. At first, it took me a long time just to get used to not sleeping. Truthfully, my typing speed is out of the range of normal people, and it is very slow. These big or small issues gave me great trouble. However, there are more problems. When I experienced the instruments, the bellow of the accordion is too heavy, I almost couldn’t hold it. The keyboard is horizontal and I was really not used to it. For the snare drum, tempo is important, and I usually kept increasing my speed. When typing the interview questions, it was hard to come up with them. I slowly found a lot of knowledge. Originally I did not understand the rhythm band, but now I can design interview questions and questionnaires. I was nervous, but I became more confident, as I got to know the rhythm band. I think that participation does not necessarily need awards, but it is only necessary to work hard. It is also difficult to interview other people. We had to go different places to interview them and we could not have our noontime breaks; the only way I can describe this is “exhaustion.” So, in the Cyberfair project, I learned the spirit of diligence and work ethic.

This year I participated in the Cyberfair project, which gave me new experiences. Last year the theme was Songshan Airport, and this year the theme was the rhythm band. On the first day, I saw a lot of people I didn’t know, and I was too scared to ask, so I could only get to know it slowly!

Joining a team means one has to learn to be responsible, and complete one’s own work on time, otherwise one would become a burden to the whole team. It is also necessary to be polite when interviewing teachers. The process did not feel like much but looking back, I really did learn a lot during this time. During this period, I understood the history of the Xisong Elementary School rhythm band. When I heard that the rhythm band did very well, I thought they were so great! Ever since I started making the rhythm band webpage, I felt even closer to the rhythm band.

I am happy to have joined this group. Of course, sometimes it was very exhausting, and all the team members think it was hard work. But it is important that now I can understand the spirit of “sacrifice the individual to complete the collective.” I hope to do well this year too, and all the hard work will not have been in vain!

I joined the Cyberfair project because I was curious. I didn’t know that Cyberfair project would be quite fun, even though we had to type a lot. I think it was a very correct decision to join, because I can be with my favorite thing, the computer, even though I type very slow. The first time in the rhythm band, I found that people in the rhythm band are very cooperative! Even though it looks very exhausting to be part of the rhythm band, but no one in the rhythm band complained of being tired, and no one wanted to sleep. They were amazing! Then I look at myself as lazy as a pig, too lazy! I remember when we experienced the musical instruments, I almost broke the rhythm band teacher’s microphone. I was so clumsy! I hope that in the future I can also learn from the rhythm band students, but sometimes they laugh too. It is okay to joke around, but don’t laugh in a competition! I still remember how excited I felt when I went to the Cyberfair project team for the first time, but now I realize it was so difficult. But I still hope we’ll be ranked, so please help us out, judges!

I remember that the first activity I joined was making the questionnaire for classmates and teachers. I’ve participated in the past so I already knew, so it only took me a little time to do it. Later I found that actually I had no time to do the interviews, so I asked for a few leaves from the teacher. As I conducted the interviews, I learned how to talk and communicate with other people and how to do interviews. As I organized the information, sometimes it felt pretty easy, but I don’t know why we did the organization over several times. But this is better, so that we wouldn’t have to work too hard in the same sitting! Since we received guidance from Teacher Huang and inspired me, I understood how to organize it, and later it became very easy! Participating in this Cyberfair project has really let me learn a lot of principles about dealing with people and things.
