Etiquette

Since Din Tai Fung is famous for its high quality service, the most important training lesson we need to take is certainly the serving skills training, such as greetings and serving manners. Please take these skills seriously because it is not as simple as saying hello or bowing. There are many tricks for the skills:

(1) Bend our arms over and place them in front of our bellies when we bow. Meanwhile, keep our backs straight and bend down our bodies.

(2) There are two kinds of bow. One is 45°bow, and another is 15°bow. When we do the first one, we need to bow down our bodies deeply. On the other hand, when customers go by, we simply need to bow down 15° and make eye contacts with them.

(3) When customers enter the restaurant, we should say, “Welcome, please come in!” When customers leave, we should say, “Thank you, goodbye!” After saying “welcome” or “thank you”, we should pause for a second, and then say “please come in” or “goodbye”.

We have practiced these manners for a long time. After the practice, we realize that “Rome was not built in a day.” The staffs need to have a lot of serving skills trainings and practices in order to provide high quality services to customers. I really appreciate their hard works.
