2008-2-18The Report of Making the Picturebook  (Ming Ching)

Contents:
Thanks to Mr. Lin, he taught us how to make a picturebook.  Firstly, he introduced to us what a picturebook was.  Then he taught us how to do.  We use some colors to spread it on a piece of special white paper.  After that we use a roller to roll it again and again.  Everyone of us rolled out beautiful colors.  We cut the paper into four pieces after it dried.  Then we could change our paper with the others.  At last we use these pieces of paper to make our own picuturebooks.  I was talking to my friends while I was making the picturebook.  The dean bought lunch for us.  We had a wonderful time and learned a lot.  We spent two days making the picturebooks and it was really fun.

We were very glad to make the picturebooks.  I made use of the scenery of WunDe.  We also designed our patterns by clipping and pasting.  It was fun in the first place, but it’s so bore in the end.  When I pasted it wrongly, I was so mad at myself.  I preferred to paint.  We combined all the paper into one volume.  At last we added some beautiful patterns on the surface of the picturebooks and we even tied a bow on it.  I illustrated my book with some picutres.  My classmates complimented me, saying that it was a good book.  I didn’t think so.  And I don’t know why.

When our dean told us that we were going to make the picuturebooks, we all said no to him.  But when the time came, all of a sudden I was so anxious to do it.  In the end the teacher came.  The teacher taught us how to do it.  When I listened to what the teacher told us, I thought it was so complicated.  As a matter of fact it was fun.  The teacher repeatedly taught us and explained it.  When we did a wrong job, she asked us to correct it.  Although it was a little tough, we still managed to finish our job.  When the class was over, how I wanted to ask the teacher to keep on teaching me!  I really really hope to see Ms. Lin and I hope to learn the other handicrafts from her.

Before I went to make the picturebook, I considered it a difficult job.  On the contrary, it was fun.  After I had finished my picturebook, I showed it to my teacher and she told me that I had done a very wonderful job.  Then I took a look at the others’ picturebooks, they came out to be so perfect, especially Ya Chun and Fang Tse, they did it with great care and so elegantly.  We learned all the methods taught by the teacher.  I still remember one in particular.  We could use two colors to spread in a piece of paper and then used a roller to roll the colors and mixed them up.  Therefore it came out so beautifully.  When we made our picturebooks, we used some kind of colored paper as the crayons and color pens to paint for the picturebooks.  We cut the paper into pieces and stuck them on the right places.  Then it’s done.  You can’t paint in the colored paper or it will turn out uglily.  It will be more beautiful if you use the sharpened tools to do some line-drawing.
