Dreamy Lake is situated on the South-East side of the foot of Mt. Chihsing. It has an altitude of 860m. Misty in Spring and winter season due to the northeast wind. Lake can be seen only in winter. In 1971, Isoetes taiwanensis DeVol were found in Dreamy Lake, this makes Dreamy lake the tiniest ecological protection zone in Taiwan.

Feature

A cryptogam with both big and small spores underneath different leaves of the same plant. Usually grown under water. However they are found to be in the air during low water seasons.

This can only be found at Dreamy Lake, however with the rising mud deposits, the size of Dreamy Lake is getting smaller. So the Isoetes taiwanensis DeVol is now an endangered specie.

Feature

Also grown in water. It is often mistaken as the Isoetes taiwanensis DeVol. It is a flowering plant where as Isoetes taiwanensis DeVol is a pteridophyte. Thus ear bud like flower will be found growing out of the Eriocaulon chishingsanensis Chang, They also have flatter and wider leaves.

Feature

It grows on the inner side of the lake, so it is better seen with the help of a telescope. As it is the only floating plant found in Dreamy Lake, therefore, when you see heart shaped leaves floating on the lake with little white flowers, you got it.
