Up to 4-7m in height. Big heart shape leaves with long stalk. Yellow flower with bell shape corolla.

Special Feature

Leaves are used for wrapping cakes in the old days when there wasn’t any plastic. They are the most importantwindbreak plant.

Commonly seen on the coast and in the wild. The pistil can be used as nail polish.

Feature

The frontier of the coastal plants, sometimes can be seen growing on the beach. They are good for windbreak and hold sand. Dioecism, white flowers, ball shape fruit which rips to be orange. 

Special feature

The fruit tastes like pineapple. 

Commonly seen in the coastal region, good for preventing the enemies from breaking in.

In tropical regions Coconut Crab cut off the ripen fruit with their claw and eat.

Feature

Grow in bunch on sandy hills. Their seed are carried by the wind, you can find seeds on the sand hills all over the costal region in Taiwan. 

Special Feature

Spiky leaves with hard and thick wax, it is really suitable for sandy environment. Dioecism. The male fruit are flat, and the female fruit have spikes on them, the spikes helps in enlarge the fruit so it carried away by the wind.

Brownish grey bark, with opposite needle-like leaves. Purple fragrant flowers in panicle. Florescence from February to April. Oval drupes, ripens to be yellow, the stem and bark are poisonous but has medical use.

1-3 cm tall, with highly developed rootstalk. Laves are needle like with long panicle. Flower season from Summer to Autumn. Can be found in any tropical and temperate zone in the world. It’s mostly seen in swamps and wetlands near the coast.

This specie of plant has evolved into a drought, wind salt resistant plant. They can be found anywhere near the coast. On the breach, in the crack of the rocks. They grow like a carpet on the ground, with furs on the leaves. The leaves fall at real cold weather to survive.

Special Feature

Has a special fragrance, that helps freshen up. The leave and the seeds can be used as medicine for flu.
