There are 3 main types of ecosystem in the She-Zi Wetland. Those are river mouth ecosystem, mangrove forest ecosystem and farm ecosystem. The river mouth ecosystem is formed from the organic elements washed down from the up stream of the Keelung and Tamshui River. Kandelia and other organisms that live in the tidal bank form the mangrove forest ecosystem. Inside the embankment we will find farms and human residences.

Appearance:Up to 5m in height. Brownish grey bark with leather textured leaves.
Flower type:cyme with 5 white petals.
Florescence:July to August
Viviparity: Maturing from December till April. Mahogany tip, length of 15-20cm.
Aerial root:Growth mainly out of the offshoots, it becomes the supporting root upon reaching the ground.

Function

Act as a windbreak, it’s the most productive plant found in the river mouth ecosystem.

Can be found almost anywhere in the wild, next to low altitude rivers and streams. Perennial herbs with highly developed underground stems. Great panicle with length of 30-50cm. 

Function

Shoots can be used to replace bamboo. And their Flowers can be used to make brooms.

30-100cm in height. Umbrella-like Capitulum, 4-7 tongue-like tubular white flowers, straight green stems. Opposite oval shape leaves with pointy tips.

Function

It has great medical use in relief internal heat. Good for patients that suffer from flu, appendicitis and diabetes.
