Field Research

In order to gain a fundamental understanding of the arcades in Taiwan, we decided to visit six main cities in person. We divided ourselves into three groups. One group visited two cities. We also graded the arcades in each city, and developed a set of assessment standards. The elements leading to bad grades include unfriendly hurdles, piles of debris in the arcades, arcade blocking, and uneven surfaces. At the same time, we also conducted interviews and surveys on residents of local people, including ordinary people, the elderly, and women pushing baby carriages. Through these measures, we may know the convenience of using the arcade in their daily life, and which direction local people urge their city halls to head on.
