Research Process: Experiences
Last spring, a collared scops owl started its family in our Nature Area and lived there. The nature study teachers guided everyone in the Nature Study Club how to build a nest box that can let the collared scops owl hatch their eggs and feed its three babies. Students wanted to know more about what the collared scops owl family was doing everyday, so the teachers set up a 24 hours infrared recording camera. It recorded what the family was doing, and the whole school watched the live broadcast online.
This year, we look forward to seeing the collared scops owl family again, so again, the Nature Study Club made more nest boxes. They even started a voting event to guess which nest box will be chosen by the owls. While we were still working on the cyber fair project, the nature study teachers had announced the great news: the collared scops owl family visited us again! This is so exciting!
