Make Drafts and Damples
The design department receives requests
from the clients. Design size according to the request and look for proper
image to use from Internet. They usually use Mac PC from Apple company to work.
When they finish the draft, they need to show the client and revise and
proofread many times until they make sure there’s no problem. Then they provide
the graphic to plate-making company. Digital
color proof technique is a new popular technique in this industry. They can
proofread directly.
Digital color prof don’t need any format of
simulation. They print out sample pages directly from color printer (Inkjet,
laser or others) so they can check the quality of the graphic before they print
massively from the printing machine. They provide sample pages for the clients
to sign for printing.

Decide Paper Size
The benefit to know the subdivision of
paper is that you can design the products with the exist specification. The
common paper size only divided into special specification and regular
specification. There are Chinese standard GB and ISO series A in regular
specifications. The sizes of paper are usually named in K. The number of K is
decided by the longer side of paper. The times you cut the full size paper in
half, is the number of K. So there are 1K, 2K, 4K, 8K and 16K. There are so
other common sizes of paper to fit the printers like A4, B3, etc.

type of printing machine.

The Textures of Printing Paper
There are many types of paper. For example,
you use halftone paper for posters and calendars, coated post card paper for
cards and magazine covers, wood free paper for non-reflect envelopes, grey tone
paper for shoe box, kraft paper for envelopes and carbon boxes. We choose
different textures of paper according to different demands.
Plate making
The plate making department will work on
the plate when they get confirmed graphic. They use RIP (Raster Image
Processor) to calculate the information in the file. Divide the color,
rasterize it, and arrange the screentone, and then transfer to the printing
plates. They finish the plate and show the clients again to make sure there’s
no place need to change. The usual CMYK outset printing makes a set of films (4
films). If there’s the need to add another color as special color, you’ll get 5
films, so you’ll have a set of 5 films.
The printing procedure starts with the
clients find a printing company, then the more important parts in the pre-made
procedure are making digital file, making film, sampling, correcting, finishing
the plate; then is printing; last come to the processing, binding, delivering
