[The Beginning]
One, two, three ... Wow! There are A LOT of them!
On the way to our school, we always saw many printing factories running busy. Driven by curiosity, we thought repeatedly: why there are so many printing factories or companies in Zhonghe? The printing industry in Zhonghe is so famous. How it grows so big?
In fact, I remember when I was 3rd Grade, we went to a printing factory for a field trip. It was amazing and I really want to know more about it! When I was there, I found that there are different sizes of machine in the factory, and the printing “machine” at school is 10 times smaller than the machines in the factory. What’s the difference between the printed product of factory and the printed paper from school machine? What’s the difference in printing process? These questions occupied my mind for a long time. I couldn’t figure it out by myself and want to dig into it.
There are many printing related industry in Zhonghe District
Guess, Guess, and Guess
2 members from our research team, they have parents working in printing industry. There are more members who have relatives owns their printing factories or working in related industry. Therefore, we observed the printing factories on our way home. We saw so many of them. We counted and counted, and almost lost count of them. It made me wonder about the development and situation of printing industry in Taiwan.
The Internet has no boundaries. We made our information search on the Internet and know that the printing industry constantly buying automatic production machines and inducing high technology in recent years with the prosperous economy. They also cooperate with government to export their products. The printing industry had panned their diverse development with the opinions of industries, governments, and academies. The overall industry in Taiwan is steady now. We, as people live in this area, should look into the printing industry in Zhonghe.
On the other hand, we realized the companies might change the type, the texture, or the material of paper to meet customers’ need. What’s more, there are hundreds of ways to print products. I started to think, if I work in this industry, I might feel it’s too hard to work there! I really want to know how the staffs feel when they doing their jobs. Is it annoying, or they really enjoy it? Is it really an industry that is time & money-consuming, tiring and exhausting for the staffs? Or it might be easier than I thought? All the questions above arouse my curiosity and want to look into it.

Can’t Live without IT?
While schooling, we learn from our textbooks that were made by the hardworking printing factories staffs; the tickets of concerts are made by the printing staffs; the wrapping boxes with lots of cuts, holes, are made by printing related industry. Now I know many things around us are connected to the printing industry. How can we live our life without printing factories?
What’s the word “Yin” in Chinese means? It has two main meanings: First one is stamp, the other one is print. My parents are just staffs of a printing factory. They go home every day with a stink smell. When I went to visit my dad in his office, I can hear the loud noises from the machines. It made me more curious about his work. That’s why I decided to get to the bottom of the industry and get the answers of every question I had in mind.
