Pay Love Forward
Pay Love Forward:Help Begins
Impressed by Mr. Wang Guan-Ying’s passion and devotion, the borough chief, Mr. Fang, was determined to build a small library with limited budget. He discussed this dream with the public library, hoping that they could offer a helping hand. Mr. Fang hoped that, with his plan, poor children in the community whose families cannot afford to buy books can also touch books, get books, and read them without traveling to a distant public library.
However, this plan did not go smoothly. The public library inspected the community and did not trust this community. They told Mr. Fang that they could only provide newspaper, and they even tried to persuade Mr. Fang to change his idea of having a library to having a reading room instead. Mr. Fang declined. He hoped to have a real library that includes a check-out and return system, and he refused to replace this library with anything else. After years of effort, a library booth was finally established in 2012.
Aside from the library booth, the borough chief also began other services, such as the Food Bank and the community fridge. He has successfully passed on the love and dream of Mr. Wang, and now he hopes the people who benefits from the service can one day give back to the community as well. Mr. Fang hopes that, eventually, these people will learn to love the community just as the borough chief had and continue this act of service for families in need.
