The Borough Chief, Fang Ho-Sheng
Growing up at Nanjichang Public Housing in 1959, the borough chief, Fang Ho-Sheng is a native resident of Nanjichang. Since he became the borough chief in 1998, he has devoted himself to helping the disadvantaged residents in Nanjichang, Zhongcin Village. As an 60-year-old man, he might not be able to do as much as other younger borough chiefs; yet, what he has done is enough for his people in the community.
Fang Ho-Sheng grew up in the Nanjichang Community. His family moved right in once Nanjichang Public Housing was built. He recalled that it has been 56 years since he moved in, and he has watched the changes that the Nanjichang Community has experienced. He noticed a great disparity in the standard of living between the residents in Nanjichang and those in other districts. He often saw elders eating whatever they could find. He firmly believed that this was also the reason why they were sick or unhealthy all the time. When he saw this, he was determined to help and change the community he grew up in.
