New Attraction in Changhua--Rice Castle

        Located within the birth place of Zhongxing Rice, the Rice Castle of Pitou Township in Changhua County is a place which specializes in the making, collecting, exploring, experiencing and selling of anything to do with the rice culture. Within the castle not only are there things to look at but there are also things to eat and play with. In fact, it’s one of the hottest tourist attractions in Changhua area. This is a place you wouldn’t want to miss.

        Strolling along the countryside, gazing across the land you will see a white European palace. With curiosity and anticipation we walked into the rice castle and in front of us was an exquisite European garden. In the mean time we were ready to capture this beautiful sight with the camera by our side. Once in the castle we were greeted by the kind smiling workers of the castle. The display in the castle were carefully planned and there was even a Zhongxing Rice advertisement of the actress Shao Yen Chang. Roaming through the two storage rice castle with things to eat and play subverted the traditional image of the rice industry.

        The Rice Castle not only presents a description of the history of rice, it also contains the essence of the rich rice culture. The design of the visitor’s route within the castle is free and interesting. Furthermore, the rice castle and the Zhongxing rice factory is only a wall apart. Therefore, we can readily see modern rice processing technology and exhibits of the newest rice manufacturing machines. In the meantime we also get to see plow and hoe tools and rice milling machines of the past. What an unforgettable experience. The passing down of traditional culture is definitely the way to go!

        Apart from static displays, we can also have hand on experience and play with rice. We just can’t get enough of it. You can make rice deserts such as rice puffs, mochi and also take part in the “rice strip show”, rice milling. To have an unforgettable memory, each tourist has the chance to perform magic on rice.
