Revival of Fuxing Silo
        We often grieve at the fact that time is often lost without our knowledge of it. Nonetheless, traces of history remain intact. Fuxing Silo witnessed the transformation of Taiwan’s agriculture industry. In fact it had turned from a working and resting ground for the people of the past to a place of art and performances for the present. And it is this very thing that speaks for the changes in Taiwanese lifestyle as a whole.


Major Events
1924
Fuxing Township Farmers’ Association governed by the Taichung government was established, but its name was later changed to Fuxing Credit Cooperatives. It began by buying grains of the Fuxing area, and then starts its barn business and also rice milling services.
1935
For the purpose of increasing grain supply, the Japanese government encouraged the building of the silo which led to the completion of the Fuxing Silo.
1949
Changed from Taichung County Fuxing Township Farmers’ Association to Changhua County Fuxing Township Farmers’ Association under the administrative order.
1952~1983
Officially changed name to Changhua County Fuxing Township Farmers’ Association.
After Taiwan’s restoration, took part in major agricultural policy such as the 37.5% Arable Rent Reduction. Fuxing Silo continues to expand by building second and third period silos consecutively.
1996
Silo constructed in Taichung Village of Fuxing Township.
1997
Fuxing Silo was officially closed and walked into history. The Farmers’ Association planned to demolish the place and build new buildings over it.
2001  
County Magistrate Chin-chu Weng, strongly pushed the notion of turning Fuxing Silo into a historical site.
2003
County Magistrate, Ms. Chin-chu Weng who with the help of General Secretary of Fuxing Township Farmers’ Association, Mr. Lin mediated with the director and supervisors of the Farmers’ Association and finally came to an agreement to keep the Silo. She then accompanied the Council for Cultural Affairs to investigate the architecture many times and was finally granted a restoration fund of 140 million NTD by the Department of Commerce of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Ministry of Culture.
2003.06
Fuxing Silo officially registered as a historical site.
2005.10
Won first prize in the Taiwan Architecture Award
2008~present
Hosted four Major International Biennial events.
Held events in association with the “Passion established Appraise for the Grains.”
Held events in cooperation with the Lukang Dragon Boat Festival.
Held Cultural and Creative events at the Changhua Story Hall.
