Guinness World Record
In 2000, HTC helped Compaq design and manufacture the first iPAQ ( Compaq’s PDA). How could iPAQ be included in the Guinness World Record and become the best PDA in the world? Let’s see how HTC made this silver trend.
At first, when HTC helped Compaq design its PDA, they wanted to make the PDA user friendly, so they made many innovations. They removed the CF slot and the battery module and replace them with a newly developed high molecular lithium-polymer battery. Meanwhile, Sony's low-temperature polysilicon (LIPS) screen was used to make the panel, making the PDA colorful and bright.
After this hard work of making and designing, Compaq’s iPAQ got great reviews right after it appeared in the market, winning prizes again and again. The same type was even included in the Guinness’s World’s Record.
HTC’s first success, the best PDA in the world, iPAQ, not only brought the operating system of Microsoft to the PDA market, but also made HTC the best ODM of PDAs.
