Shu-Wen Li

Shu-Wen Li, A.K.A. Tong-chen, a native to Zhangsha, Dongnan Township of Cang County, was born on 1864 and lived for 70 years till 1934. He learned Ba-Ji-Quan and long lance from Dian-shen Jing of Meng Village. Li was among the representative figures for modern Ba-Ji-Quan. He was particularly skilled in lance and could compete with others single-handed with the lance. In normal practice, he would spear flies, which were drawn to paper window applied with honey, one by one, with long lance without puncturing the window. Whilst, he could hold and spin the wheel of a large northern carriage with the tip of the lance; he spun the wheel, making it whoop, effortlessly. He could also pull out a 3-foot-long nail which one drove into the wall and no other people could pull out; what he did was just yank it out with the tip of the lance. Considered as the reincarnation of Jhong Wu the Incredible Lancer by the people of his time, Li was called honorifically Li the Incredible Lancer.
