What is the relationship between San-Hao Rice and Yeedon Enterprise?

A: San-Hao is the name of our rice brand, and Yeedon Enterprise Co., Ltd. is the name of our company.

What is the origin of the brand name San-Hao?

A: San-Hao means “three goods,” and they are—good quality, good provenance, good facilities.

Who established San-Hao Rice?

A: The brand was set up by a family of five brothers.

Why did you want to set up San-Hao Rice?

A: We used to run the rice-selling business, but we didn’t own a brand. After we established our brand, we thought of setting up our company.

Can you tell us about the challenges you faced when you first started doing business?

A: I guess the greatest challenge was when we prepared to set up business. It took us two or three to get ready!

How many years has San-Hao Rice Chutang Rice Mill been in operation? And how old are you now, Chairman Chen?

A: Chutang Rice Mill was established in 1988, it has been 23 years now, and I am 65 years old.

Were there any unusual incidents when setting up the mill? Any touching anecdotes?

A: No! Everything went really well.

Why did you choose to set up your mill in Chutang Township?

A: Because Chutang is irrigated by Chuoshui River, the quality of the water is good, and it contains minor trace elements as well as minerals.

How many factories are there in your enterprise?

A: Five, Yunlin 2nd Rice Mill, Erlun Rice Mill, Chutang Rice Mill, Hsichou Rice Mill, Siluo Rice Mill.

Which one is the biggest?

A: Yunlin 2nd Rice Mill is the biggest.

 

 

 

Is there anything special about Chutang Rice Mill that differs it from the other mills?

A: Chutang Rice Mill mainly produced the superior quality rice called Taigeng No. 9 Premium Rice.

Aside from the mills mentioned above, do you have plans to set up new mills?

A: Yes, we have plans for that in consideration, but they will mainly be overseas mills in Thailand and Vietnam.

How many departments are there at Chutang Rice Mill?

A: There are three major departments, the gathering and storage departments, the processing and packaging department, and the contract, quality control and accounting department.

How many employees are there?

A: There are over 300 within the enterprise, and 43 at Chutang Rice Mill.

Can you tell us about the structure of Chutang Rice Mill, and who makes up its staff?

A: Currently there is the board of directors, mill director, managers, team officers and team members.

How large is Chutang Rice Mill in terms of acreage?

A: It is about two hectares, there are around 3000 ping in a hectares, which makes it around 6000 ping.

What is your most expensive piece of equipment?

A: The color selection machine, it’s priced at around 5 million NT dollars.

Which one has been in use for the longest time?

A: The milling machine, we’ve been using it for twenty years.

How long does it take for San-Hao Rice to go through the entire packaging process?

A: Depending on the size and quantity, the entire process takes about 10-30 minutes.

What kind of refuse is created when producing rice? What do you do with the refuse?

A: There is almost none, only stones and broken grains, and broken grains can be fed to chickens.

 

 

 

How many packs of rice can be produced per day at Chutang Rice Mill? And at all the mills combined?

A: Chutang Rice Mill produces 6000 packs per day, and all the mills produce 20000 packs in total.

How many varieties of rice products are produced at Chutang Rice Mill?

A: Divided according to variety and weight, 51 kinds.

What’s special about the winning product of the 2010 “Superior Quality Award” Changhua Chutang Taigeng No. 9 Premium Rice?

A: It’s good to eat, healthful, nutritious, great texture, and doesn’t harden when cooled.

What are the health, safety, or environmental protection certifications achieved by San-Hao Rice?

A: All products at San-Hao Rice have CAS Food Certification, we passed the ISO22000 security standard on Dec. 21st, 2010, the 2005 Food Safety and Management Systems Certification, and have been awarded with the TGA fine packaging prize.

Does the production process cause any pollution?

A: None at all!
