Learning Gains

Experence and Discovery

Although we do not have the relevant knowledge of the nature environment and geography of HePing River.  With the instructions from the teachers and experiences of collecting data from this period of time, it grew on us.  We understand more that “HePing River” is not merely a small stream near our village.  It includes the mutual memories of people getting along with nature.  In order to learn this new concept, we collected a lot of data and visited the places, which made us learn greatly and love our homeland more.

I love learning~Wu ZhiYing

We made miniatures of trees, rivers and rocks in art class.  First, we colored, put things together, and then a beautiful miniature was made.  Trees were made of bottles and paper; water was made of wet toilet paper.  Ms. Sasa, Ms. He and Me. Fang were together with us; we were really happy.  I like HePing River and art class.  I think every class is interesting.

Endless beautiful sceneries- Lee HongYu

We went to BiHai Construction and saw many workers and machines.  I saw how to generate power by water.  They used hydropower and blocked water in up-stream.  I saw where the joint of northern HePing River and southern HePing River was and the scene where mountains were on two sides and ocean in the middle.  I had never seen these before!

Sharing with everyone - Lin PinYuan

We took pictures of plants, animals and streams in HePing River and show them to those who had never been to the river or younger students.  We visited BiHai Construction and took pictures of the buildings and mountains.  We took them as memo and will see if HiPing River becomes different in the future.

Thank you - Lu XinYing

Thanks to the elder people in the community for accepting our interviews so that we could know what HePing River had been like in the past.  Thanks to engineers of BiHai Construction for showing me the current situation.  Thanks to the instructors for teaching us how to do this topic – HePing River.  They taught us some software and took us to interviews.  The research has a great relationship with our daily life, and I have a good impression on this river.

Dreams come true - Fan YanZhen

HePing River used to be a lovely place with clean water and a lot of fish; however, it has become a river that no one feels like being close to.  All the villagers we interviewed all hoped that it could return to the past when it was beautiful and everyone loved it.  The dream that HePing River is interesting can be true.

Feeling Santimental - Wu CenJing

I saw many plants.  Some were beautiful flowers, some were green grass, and others were ulgy woods.  There were plenty of plants, and I loved HePing River.  I also saw different animals: flying bus like drangon flies, bugs like beetles and small fish.  There were a lot of animals, and I felt really happy.  The wind was cool by the river, but we had to leave.  I was reluctant to wave goodbye to HePing River.  With the guidance of five teachers, we acquired abundant knowledge about nature during this trip.

Lively stream- Wu CenYuan

The whole class loves HePing River.  We took the school bus to HePing River in integrative activity class.  When we arrived there, we saw rocks of strange shapes.  There were big, small and flat stones.  These were the result of water flowing on them.  They were so beautiful.

The teacher told us that the pillars beneath the bridge were for measuring how deep the water was.  There was a red line on the pillar.  If the level was above the red line, it meant that the water was too deep to pass through, or people would be flushed away.  The teacher also told us that the animals here included beetles, fish, oxes in the mountains and birds flying in the sky.
I've learned a lot from the research of HePing River, which makes me really happy.  I would like my parents to take me there often so that I could introduce it to people.

A happy day- Tian PeiHua

In this research activity, my deepest impression was the day we took the school bus to visit HePing River.  I saw mud in the river, iron tower, and the sound of water.  How wonderful it was!

We saw rocks in various shapes.  Some were like bushy forests, some were like rivers and others were like tea pots.  How weird it was!  Some people were stumbled by the rocks.  The principal said there was hot spring in the mountains which I had never been to.  An elder man said that there were oxes raised in the mountains, seven in total.

There were a lot of animals by HePing River.  A naughty boy in the class kept catching little animals; teachers used cameras to capture them, but them kept running away.  We found many pods of leucaena and some grass, and they could turn into unbrellas.  I rinsed the rocks, dried them and put them in my drawers for future use in art class.

I think there were many interesting things in HePing River.  There sceneries were beautiful, and I love HePing more than I used to.

A new place - Lu JiaXin

Our whole class loved HePing River.  Rocks, sand and mud had their own unique shapes; mud would become clods after it dried.  Some rocks were heart-shaped, some were round-shaped, and others were square-shaped.  Some plants there were very tall, some were short and some plants could be used as games.  It was really fun.  The bridge above HePing River was very long.  When I was walking on it and looking down, I saw a long long stream flowing into the sea.  Looking down from the bridge was a little scary.  There were buildings by the bridge: some were houses and some were temples.  I heard my grandma say that there was hot spring.  I don't know if we can still take hot spring bath there and how deep it is.  I found there were so many special thing and games to play by HePing River in this activity.
