When the Tree House just built, there were always short of something. Uncle Huang pointed at an old toy and indicated that “someone would bring something here; even children did that, too”.
You could see different elements converging to a special decoration in every corner such as army cap provided by Er-Kong retired officers, calligraphy words provided by seniors from Servicemen's Residential Compounds, small toys provided by neighbor children, memento left behind by friends as well as all kinds of collections.
Indeed, all of these were rare artwork in Uncle Huang’s view. “Naturally, it had formed a special Tree House culture which did not necessarily to stipulate. The culture was formed when the time went by”. .” Liao Jun, the host of a famous television program “Stories in Taiwan”, indicated in the interview that took place around two years ago that “brother Long put the culture of Servicemen’s Residential Compounds onto the Tree”.

The concept of environmental protection infixed to the will
of the people.
To look all around the collections of the Er-Kong Tree House, no any decoration was new product and bought on purpose. The start point Uncle Haung initially built the Tree House was to bring old or obsolete stuffs new value.During Er-Kong reconstruction, many things suddenly needed to be removed and abandoned. “So many things were treasure”, Uncle Huang pointed to articles at the Tree House corner conveniently. Perhaps they were old, no longer shiny but as an old stuff, they were very tasty.
Constantly, many of obsolete and idle goods brought him different thought, explained Uncle Haung, He encouraged people to let these rejects develop another aspect of value. Discarded pot and bowl could be transformed to unique chimney. Obsolete washboard could be an embodiment of stunning chair cushion. So many creative ideas were stimulated in here. Each article had its own story that was worth you to listen. Before these things were thrown away, people gave them opportunity to present another significant value. |

Er-Kong area was the highest average-age community in Tainan County with simple reason. It was because those servicemen were getting old gradually and young people moved out to for job opportunity. It accelerated and enhanced occupation of the age aging population. The energetic servicemen have become old civilians who made the community short of vitality and interaction.
At the same time of the Tree House built, the atmosphere under the tree had changed beyond recognition. “Looked at these people; they did not get out of their doors originally”, a big smile presented on Uncle Huang’s face. Because of the establishment of Tree House and the improvement of hygienic conditions, people in community liked to come here having a look at things and chatted with neighbors more and more. “This change made him the most gratified”, said Uncle Huang.
Although those battle-scarred tough guys physical strength had been inferior, they could not lose on military commander strategy. “Came, came to play chess.
