Recycling Treatment

The garbage truck delivered the trash to the incinerator plant to burn, but how about the recycling truck?

TDEP indicated the sanitation team would collect the recycling things every day and send them to the certain places—No. 151, Sec 5, Muzha Rd, Wenshan District, Taipei or Jiuzong Recycling Stand in Nei Hu County. The cooperation factories would come to take them in the next day. They would make the recycling resources into the raw materials, such as plasticgranules, metal chunk, rough mercury…etc. And they used the raw materials to make the reprocessed paper, glass, steel and flurorescent tubes.

Being the Gold

Many people said that to reprocess the recycling resources was like a new alchemy. It not only reprocessed the goods, but also created employment opportunities. In addition, it released the burden of the Earth. The DVD of “The War of Garbage Transformation”, published by TDEP, had some good examples of recycling:

1. Plastic Bottles: to re-make as sleeping bags, pillows, ski jackets, and toy plugs.

2. Styrofoam: clothes racks, flower pot, and building materials.

3. Glass: floor tiles, wall tiles, asphalt, permeable bricks, and tables & chairs on sidewalks.

4. Paper: One ton of paper could produce 800 kilograms of reprocessed paper. If it was all made by wood, it would need the trees which were 20~40 years old. Reprocessed paper could mainly make two kinds of packing paper. One waskraft paper and the other was white pasteboard.
