A place of recreation for commune

A big yard in front of the temple and a garden in back of the temple, they are planted a lot of old banyans and become the good places of recreation for commune. So, in font yard and in garden of the Temple, our often see that grandfathers or grandmothers make tea, play chinese chess and chat under the banyan. We interviewed those grandfathers, they are mostly fifty or sixty years old, even more than 70 years old, they said they chat and play chinese chess with friends everyday there. From these interviews, us realized Yuan-Shuai Temple is an extremely important role in Youchang locals' mind.

A place for Performances

there was a performance of World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung in front of the temple.

In the front yard of Yuan-Shuai Temple, organs or communal groups performed here once in a while. Mr. Song-Tang Cai, Miao-Gong(Person administering the affairs of temple), said： "Any organs or communal groups can use the field as long as they file an application to the temple committee. This service of lending field not only offering a place for locals' interaction but also saving temple's expenditures."

A place for electioneering

A candidate rented the front yard of temple for his electioneering.

A electioneering always attracts lots of people.

Yuan-Shuai Temple also offers the field for the political candidates to run electioneering. When one candidate files an application; meanwhile, he and the temple committee make an application to Youchang police office for keeping the order of this electioneering.

A place for Folk Performance groups performing

The group of Traditional Chinese Music performed in the front hall of temple.

Locals comprise a folk performance group, Song-Jiang-Jhen, and perform in the annual deities' patrol.

Youchang has a lot of Folk Performance groups. These Folk Performance groups perform in the deities' birthday or the annual deities' patrol, and the members of the groups are mostly Youchang locals. In some evening, they are in the font yard of Yuan-Shuai Temple doing the exercise for their performance.

Their devoted faith to Yuan-Shuai Temple make Youchang locals love their own community more.
