Kuljaljau Elementary School , founded in March of 1904 and named “ KunLin Building ”, was for aboriginal children four years education. Later in March of 1946, the name changed to Kaohsiung County Laiyi Township KuljaljauPublic School . On Oct. 1, 1950 , it was named Pingtung County Laiyi Township KuljaljauPublic School because of adjustment of the administrative division. In September 1968, the nine-year mandatory education comprehensively took effect by the government; therefore, School's name changed to Pingtung County Laiyi Township KuljaljauElementary School at the current address of No. 2, Yuying Rd. , Kuljaljau Village , Laiyi Township , Pingtung County .
Geographically located in Laiyi Township , with neighboring divisions of Jinfeng Township and Daren Township of Taitung County (on east border), Hsinpi Township and Wanruan Township (on west border), Chunri Township (on south border) and Taiwu Township (on north border.) Because of rugged terrain and steep gradient, the development of transportation services is comparatively late except for the bus service to Kuljaljau Village .
Students' abilities are encouraged by their aptitudes. There are various activities, including traditional singing and dancing classes, football team and etc with outstanding accomplishment in national competition. For example: A champion in the tournament of Vitality 2005 National Aboriginal Children Native Language Talent Competition, South Region.
