The Beautiful Takopueanu
River
|
|
Our hometown is in a remote area called Alishan Township
Sinmei Village.
We are the students of Sinmei
Elementary School. There
is a very beautiful river called “Sinmei River”. The elders
usually call her “Takopueanu”. What a strange name! |
|
On the campus there is a garden called “Takopueanu Ecological
Garden” which we like
best. We had asked the teacher why it had such a difficult name. The teacher
told us that this garden was designed in imitation of Sinmei River.
Takopueanu is its proper name. It is also called “Puyanu
River” in the map, not “Sinmei River”. |
|
In
the past three years, the experts of National Museum of Natural Science had
come to study the tribe of sinmei twice and
some local people were sent for help. Ever since then many people have talked
about “the tribe of Takopueanu” but seldom explained it clearly. |
|
|
With the help of the teachers, we hope to study this tribe to get a
deeper understanding about the history of our hometown. |
The
Scope of the Study
|
|
The area studied is said to be the place where the tribe of Takopueanu
has ever lived. It is also the present Chiayi
County Alishan
Township Sinmei
Village and Chashan Village. |
