Origin of the river

Rivers refer to waters flowing on the land surface in linear shapes.  Rivers usually originate on the mountains, flow down along with the terrain and then into lakes or oceans.  The river we introduce, HePing River, follows the same pattern. Our hometown HePing Village locates in SiouLin Township, Hualien County.  A river called HePing River locates in the village; it has another name-- DaZhuoShui River.  From the aspect of geography, its important function is to divide Hualien County and Yilan County.  HePing River originates from South Lake Mountain, 50.73 kilometers in length and about 561.60 square kilometers in the measure of area.  It flows through NanOu Township in Yilan County and SiouLin Township in Hualien County.   DaZhouShui Bridge is built on the lower reaches.  The bridge is also the boundary of Hualien and Yilan on SuHua Highway.

Viewing from HePing Tribe, the mountains in the distance are sun-drenched and green in sunny days; you can feel the passion and kindness.  Whereas, they are misty and mysterious in cloudy days.  Birds tweeting, animals crying, accompanied by the legend of the tribe, it attracts people’s visits.  Watching the other side of the estuary, the ocean is only hundreds of meters away.  Sea waves are calling; fishes and crabs are following down the river.
