Bird Watching Hotspots
1.Shezidao, Taipei City
Recommendation:★★★★★★★
Introduction: Shezidao is a well known bird watching location. There are a lot of crabs and mudskippers for birds to eat. Therefore, in winter, many migratory and waterfowls come here as a migratory "rest stop". In the summer of the following year, the recharged, well-fed birds set off for long-distance flights, rushing to the north, where there is abundant food to breed the next generation.

3.Guandu Nature Park
Recommendation:★★★★★
Introduction: Guandu Nature Park covers about 56 hectare. Guandu is the junction of Keelung River and Tamsui River . It is also near Tamsui River’s estuary, so the nutritive substance that river and tides bring is gathering here. Also, when northeast monsoon is prevailing, to its north direction, there is a volcano called Mt. Datun, which can block the strong wind. Therefore, Guandu has diverse ecosystems. Guandu has more than 200 kinds of bird species. Most of them are winter migratory birds and transit birds.

5.Longluan Lake
Recommendation:★★★
Introduction: Each year thousands of tufted ducks visit Longluan Lake. In addition, the flower-billed ducks, pintail, tall plovers, and black-winged stilts are also frequent visitors to get through winter. Bird-lovers sometimes see rarer ones such as bean geese, swans, and African sacred ibises. We also come across protected species in southern Taiwan: the black-faced and white-faced spoonbills. Longluan Lake is a special landscape area of Kenting National Park. During the Qing Dynasty, it was an important area for agricultural and fishery production in Hengchun. During the rainy season, the lake area was always flooded. To solve the flooding problem, the government built barriers on the eastern and northern sides of the lake in 1949. The Longman Lake today is a semi-artificial wetland. With its surrounding water pools, fish farms, farmland, shrubs and secondary forests, the Longman Lake became a great habitat for birds .
