such as main algae of Taoyuan Algal Reefs: nauplius Coralline Algae which construct the reefs by calcareous of calcium in sea water placed in cell wall. Some flat calcareous algae can deposit calcium carbonate by calcification and construct large reef (Algal Reefs) by constant cementation.
Importance:“Algal Reefs are the cradle of marine animals” and “Algal Reefs are the important genetic reserve”, “porous Algal Reefs can perfectly serve for wave absorption”. “Algal Reefs ecology is the best field of environmental education”, “Algal Reefs are the cradle of marine animals.” Porous environment of Algal Reefs is the best “cradle of marine animals” for fish, shrimps and crabs which grow up and swim to the neighboring sea area and result in rich fishing ground.
Salinity is reduced with the input of fresh water. Animal reefs can hardly be formed with high sediment and when they approach sea level. However, vegetative Algal Reefs can survive.
In Taiwan, the largest Algal Reefs are in Taoyuan County. When Algal Reefs were discovered at Taoyuan coast for the first time, from the coast of Dayuan, Guanyin to Xinwu, the length has been 27 km. However, only Guanxin Algal Reefs from Guanyin District to Xinwu District, with the length of 4.5 km, continue growing at present. Nevertheless, since Taoyuan is the main industrial zone in northern Taiwan, the plants inappropriately emit waste water and CNPC installs oil pipeline, Algal Reefs are constantly destroyed. Nowadays, Algal Reefs in the north of Guanyin Industrial Park cannot survive and only at the coast of 4km of the south of Xiao Fan Li river mouth in Guanyin District and of the north of Hou Hu river mouth in Guanyin District, we can still see more complete Algal Reefs which are “Guanxin Algal Reefs” which actively saved by conservation circle.
Chemical:
emission of industrial waste water along the coasts of Taoyuan.
Physical:
groin effect causes landfill of drift sand and temporary embankment is scoured and sandy soil flows out.
Biological:
construction of large development projects such as industrial harbor and human stamping .
Core zone: it is the cradle of fish, shrimps and shellfish and the transition for the birds’ migration. In order to protect wild animals and plants and for the concern of academic research, it should be strictly protected and limit the development. Thus, it is the core zone.
Buffer zone:in the zone, it protects the core zone and tolerate the original land use.
Sustainable use zone: in the condition of ecological balance, it tolerates the acquisition of cultural and economic benefits by animals and plants.

In recent decade, oil leaking is common in the sea area around Taiwan. Heavy oil spreads rapidly with the currents. How to effectively prevent the ships from leaking oil and immediately cope with the accidental oil leaking in the ocean is important concern in modern environmental issue!
According to Department of Environmental Protection, there are numerous precious natural resources at Taoyuan coasts, such as national wetland of Hsutsuo Harbor, Caota Dunes, etc. Since 2017, Department of Environmental Protection has launched “Taoyuan beach cleanup” and from 2017 to 2018, Taoyuan City has held 562 rounds of beach cleanup, including 45,023 participants who cleaned 276 tons of garbage. The outcome was significant. In order to purify the ocean, Department of Environmental Protection, in 2017, introduced “environmental fleet project”. Fisher’s Association of Taoyuan District founded “Zhuwei Eco-Fleet”, Zhongli Fishermen’s Association founded “Yongan Eco-Fleet” and CPC Corporation of Taoyuan founded “CPC Eco-Fleet”. At present, there are 67 ships which implement “no garbage of ships in the ocean”. Besides, it encourages the fishermen, when fishing, to get the waste on the ocean to Department of Environmental Protection.
