Marine Hakka breaks through the stereotype image of mountain Hakka

The coast is the important wetland and it shows the activity of family economy and is the memory for many marine Hakka. However, the stories of marine Hakka who made a living with ocean gradually disappear with the pollution of the coast and the decease of old fishermen. From agricultural to industrial society, people only focused on economic development and the coasts were neglected. Fishing ground which marine Hakka relied on is disappearing and the balance between coastal development and ecology will be an important issue.

Taoyuan will construct Yongan Conch Cultural Park

By the construction of “Yongan Conch Cultural Park”, it aims to promote the related business, results in the return of the youth and reinforces industrial development. In the future, by various projects, it will turn Yongan Fishing Harbor into the site with marine Hakka style and create “Hakka harbor of the youth”.
