Becoming an interesting person:

There are some very interesting scripts in the art of shuochang. Their main purpose was to make people laugh. They make people laugh from their hearts because the audience is able to relate to the jokes. When a student learns shuochang, he/she will learn how to tell a story well, and this will help him/her become an interesting person.

Becoming a more matured, passionate, and appreciative person:

Many stories in the art of shuochang teach the audience the way to doing things and treat others. We need to incorporate those teachings and learn how to love and cherish others. When we perform, we are also assuming a great responsibility. We have to be interesting to our audience, and we also have to know how to appreciate others.

Work hard and have fun, passion, and dream!

Raising Understanding in Chinese Literature

The art of shuochang includes lots of historical stories. Students are able to learn and understand classical Chinese stories, raise their understanding in Chinese literature, and improve their ability to express themselves more accurately.

Correcting Articulation and Pronunciation:

Every one who has learned shuochang at Yu-Tsai has made improvement in their articulation and pronunciation. When they speak or read an article, they would pay special attention to their pronunciation and articulate each word more clearly. This is a great learning experience for the students.

Unleash your potential, excel to the next level!

Ms. Li

Clear Articulation

In teaching the art of shuochang, Ms. Li constantly asks her students to articulate every single word clearly. Students must distinguish between tongue-rolling and non-tongue-rolling sounds, and they must shape their mouths pronounce a word correctly. Ms. Li stresses on accuracy first, followed by speed and the intonation. After practicing for some time, students are able to articulate more clearly.

Physical coordination to boost confidence and stage presence

During individual and group practices, Ms. Li constantly teaches and corrects the students on their expression, intonation, body movements, and team chemistry. The students have made improvements on their level of self confidence and physical coordination. After stage presence and body movements looked after, students were able to perform more lively on stage. Students were required to watch each other’s performances, and they were able to learn from each other.

Every one is unique, learn to assure of yourself, appreciate other people, and let yourself shine!
