Generally 2~3 months in advance, and if in ad hoc circumstances with one month advance notice for separation. This period of time is for preparation of psychological building of the foster family and the foster children and as reminders. Prior to separation, the foster family and the original family would meet a couple of times and communicate about the circumstances of the children to facilitate adjustment of the foster children upon returning home. The venue for separation would usually be at the Department of Social Work, the foster family, the original family (or the adoptive family), under witness of the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families (TFCF) of both families.
