Extended reading: Aptitude teaching

　　To Daddy and Mommy Wu it is necessary to pay attention to details in taking care of different children.  “In taking care of the smaller children, more physical expense is required while for bigger children more mental expense is required.  Sometimes, communication is more effective than punishment, particularly for bigger children you need to pay attention to his or her friends while for smaller children safety is of foremost importance.”

Since small children like to run and jump, safety is the sole foundation for the nanny taking care of the infant or kindergarten teacher teaching the children.  Therefore, Mommy Wu always repeatedly reminds of attention in taking care of children, particularly those who are prone to falling.  Mommy Wu attentively teaches the children how to walk slowly.   Walking is deemed a natural gift to us, but Mommy Wu seriously underscores its importance.  “You’ll see bruises here and there of children after returning from play if you showed negligence in teaching the children.”  Mommy Wu remembered once when she took the foster child out to play: “Once I took a hyperactive child to participate in a community tour.  There was a slope there and she would not allow me hold her hand and ran wild.  So I walked by her side and watched her.  But suddenly she ran to my back and pushed me.  I fell down and hurt my knee.”  Aside from paying attention to safety, the habits of each foster child gave Mommy Wu a lot of headache.  For instance, due to lack of care from their natural parents, the children do not brush teeth themselves and have formed no such habit.  Therefore, Mommy Wu has to guide them step by step and change their bad habits.

For bigger children, morality and personality shaping is very important.  In particular, Daddy and Mommy Wu always remind them the idea of making friends and secretly observe whether they made bad friends.  “At arrival to this family, one foster child was extremely rude to us and rejected all admonishments.”  Sometimes, while Daddy and Mommy Wu were not watching, he would steal mobile phone; and played PC games till late at night; and slept on the desk while in school classes; he gave up learning……., however, thanks to prolonged guidance and reminding by Daddy and Mommy Wu, he changed his bad habits after senior high school and became well disciplined.  Daddy and Mommy Wu had spent uncounted efforts on him.
