Beitou Culture Foundation, established in 2010, mainly works on the preservation of historical buildings, promotion of cultural events, day care
of the solitary elderly. Zhu Xiao-ci, as a tour guide of the foundation, had attended the courses in Beitou Community College for learning more knowledge about local
culture. People regard Zhu as an expert of Beitou. Zhu is also a volunteer trainer for companies' in-service training as well as a tour guide for foreign
visitors.
Through her interviews, we have uncovered the pottery history in Beitou. For example, Japanese had made the
first toilet in Beitou for promoting hygiene and sanitation in Taiwan. Also the first tile had been made here for building the Baroquo style architecture. The fragments
of the history recalled by Zhu. Hopefully her efforts remind people the once prosperous manufacture of pottery in Beitou.
