Features
After a decade of work, Jui-Wen Chen eventually finished his revolutionary invention-the JW Eco-Technology. What are some unique features that make many environmental experts think this is one of the best alternative of eco-technology? How is the JW Pavement different from other types of pavements? To understand its unique features, we need to focus on how the structure is designed:
1.High Load-bearing Capacity
First, the JW Eco-Technology is paved with reinforced concrete with an Aqueduct Grate to help support the structure. The Aqueduct Grate and concrete can help spread the weight of the load, so it will be able to withstand high traffic volumes.
2.Simple but Durable
Second, since the JW Eco-Technology Pavement is a one-piece design, it is less prone to cracking due to the difference in thermal expansion and contraction of materials. In addition, the surface texture and color can easily be installed and changed when necessary.
3.High Air-Circulation and Water/Drought Prevention
Third, designing the Aqueduct Grate with two sizes, both wide and narrow pipes, allows water to easily drain and infiltrate into the soil; this not only allows rainwater to be quickly stored but also produces a chimney effect, which helps circulate air underneath the pavement surface.

4.Environmentally Friendly
Last, the gravel layer and the design of the water retention balls under the paving layer provides living space for underground microorganisms. These microorganisms, in turn, help filter pollutants and purify air for human use.
JW Eco-Technology turns simple pavement into reservoir and provides living space for underground microorganisms. The JW Pavement can be considered an air and water purifier, as the microorganisms maintained by the environment the pavement creates help break down pollutants. Moreover, the JW Pavement can become an air-conditioner using the moisture beneath the pavement to cool down the summer heat and melt snow in the winter. Finally, using the water it stores and the fertilizing materials the organisms create, we can build an urban farmland right beneath our city.
