Young Inventor
Jui-Wen Chen did not stay with the master mason for long. At the time, the construction business was blooming. A few years later, his older brother and some of his good friends decided to start their own business as mason contractors, and Jui-Wen Chen left the master mason to join them.
A year later, his brother got married and decided to be the boss himself, and Jui-Wen Chen joined his brother. His ability was quickly recognized by his brother, so his brother asked him to take charge of a team of workers. All those who worked in the construction business soon learned his name and his skills. Jui-Wen Chen got more and more job offers. Things were going really well for Jui-Wen Chen. Thus, a year later, at the age of seventeen-and-a-half, he left his brother’s company and started his own business.
“How could a seventeen-year-old boss, who didn’t even know many words, sign contracts with others?” we asked.
Jui-Wen Chen laughed as he replied, “At that time, we just talked about it, no contract needed!”
In the beginning, he focused solely on masonry, bricklaying and tiling; then, slowly, he began building houses. Eventually, he started his own construction company. For his honesty and dedication, he established his reputation and became a well-known business contractor.
After working in the construction business for a while, Jui-Wen Chen decided to start a new company, Ding Tai Co., which sells building materials as well as the new construction techniques he had invented, such as the JW Eco-Technology. The business grew quickly, and even Jui-Wen Chen was surprised to see the success of the company.
From a simple mason to a building contractor to a businessman and an inventor, Jui-Wen Chen had a challenging but exciting career. Throughout his career, he was loved and respected by his colleagues and staff because of his gentleness and patience. Thus, he had a successful and fulfilling career.
