This was my first time to be a tour guide in an exhibition. I remember when I was a first grader; I could only look at the senior schoolmates and listened to their guided explanation. But this time I was so excited because I was one of the participants in the exhibition.

All six grade teammates had an exam, therefore they couldn’t come. Only I and the other 3 fifth grade teammates conducted a guided tour and guided explanation to the students attending exhibition. I was so nervous, because the next coming class was my class. Unfortunately, I didn’t do it very well. But I think I have done my best.

We have spent a lot of time preparing for this exhibition. I have improved my public speaking skill and gained a lot of experiences from organizing this exhibition.  I also have learned and understood about the history of Ri Xing Type Foundry. I just hope all my schoolmates have better understanding about the type foundry after listening to my guided explanation.

The One and Only Type Foundry in Taiwan - Ri Xing Type Foundry exhibition would be on January 14 and 15 at our school. There were guided tour zone, video zone, E-learning zone, experiential zone and students’ work zone in this exhibition.

We used some computer graphic software to make the posters. A short film, The Lead Type Founder, introduced and explained for the visitors about the processing of printing. We hope via this short film would help all schoolmates to realize this greatest printing skill. In the E-learning zone, we set up a printing game. We bought some lead printed character pieces from a store. We used these pieces to have the coming students to experience moveable type printing. The students’ work is chosen by art teachers from the art class. During this exhibition I have learned so many precious experiences. After this exhibition I hope more people could understand more about the Ri Xing Type Foundry and the value of this printing skill.

It was about a month ago before the exhibition of The One and Only Type Foundry in Taiwan – Ri Xing Type Foundry, our teacher had told us that it would be held at the 6th floor of school at the end of term. All of us have to collect the information, make posters… etc. I was so nervous because I was responsible for one navigation board and conducted guided explanation to the students attending exhibition. I prepared my draft and practiced it several times. My teacher edited my draft and classmates helped me with my speaking. It was so hard but I felt I have gained a lot of experiences and knowledge. After this exhibition, so many schoolmates could know more about these printing techniques. I wish I can have another chance to deliver a presentation in front of my schoolmates in the future.

In this exhibition, there were several zones, such as experiential zone, students’ work zone and video zone. At the beginning, I couldn’t memorize my lines well. Therefore, I tried hard whenever I had a chance, because I didn’t want to read the draft word by word. After they listened to the guided explanation, I asked them some questions for getting their attention. But those questions were hard for the low graders; therefore I chose some simple questions for them. They all answered me enthusiastically. I was so proud of myself.

We spent a lot of time on making the posters and decorating the exhibition place. It was hard, but we all felt happily. What I have learned is that when we are giving a speech, we shouldn’t only follow the draft. We should speak colloquially. After this experience, I believe I won’t be afraid and nervous of getting on a stage in the future.

We are holding an exhibition for two days, today and tomorrow. The exhibition includes the works our team had been working on for participating Cyberfair this year, in the topic of “The One and Only Type Foundry in Taiwan- Ri Xing Type Foundry.” Location for this exhibition is Multifunction Classroom at our school. The exhibition is divided into several zones--- Students’ Works, Guided Tour and Video. In Students’ Works Zone, you will find the students’ works that made by engraving on the resin boards in their art class for the celebration of our school’s 65 anniversary, while in the Guided Tour Zone, there are introductions to the history of Ri Xing Type Foundry and the art of found type and printing for the schoolmates to have a better and deeper understanding of Ri Xing Type Foundry.

Decorations for this exhibition required a lot of hard works, such as climbing ups and downs for settling the chairs, tables, and to fix the posters on the walls. We are very thankful and we appreciate the help from the 6th graders in the class of Yi in that they helped decorate and clean the exhibition area.

The nine team members of our Cyberfair group were the tour guides for all the students in our school, which made us really nervous. Since we didn’t want to make any mistakes in front of our schoolmates, so we have to memorize the lines for the introductions well and practiced saying naturally. I was responsible for talking about the future development of found type. On the very first day, I wasn’t able to talk very naturally due to the fact that I didn’t memorize the lines well. However, I became more and more adapted and familiar doing it and did much better on the second day. My teacher also had compliments for me, saying that I had a huge improvement. To have more interactions and make it more fun, I asked the schoolmates questions and gave out candies as rewards for those who had the right answers to the questions.

I learned a lot of precious experiences from this exhibition. I learned a lot. Also, I hope that through our guided explanation, students in our school have better understanding about the cultures of lead printing and found type as well as the spirit of Ri Xing Type Foundry.

Last week, we had an exhibition in Multifunction Classroom at the 6th floor at our school. I was so excited because finally it’s our chance to show all schoolmates our achievements for the event Cyberfair. The first and second grades were the first groups of students who came to visit. I had to think about how and what I could say to help the young audience understand this topic. Each time the audience switched to a different grade, I had to modify my tones, word choices and expressions for them to understand what I was talking about. Tour guides ourselves had to have the control of it. For example, when it came to talking to higher graders, I could use more difficult words with deeper meanings. However, it would be a lot different talking to lower graders. On the second day, with the experience that I had from the previous day, I did the guided explanation much smoothly and better that I didn’t even feel that the activity was about to end and would like to keep doing my job.

The exhibition was really interesting and fun. It was my last time to participate Cyberfair because I am in 6th grade, my last year in elementary school. It is a pity and sad because I’ll being leaving. I hope that we get good results on Cyberfair every year.

Following the two-day final examinations for this semester, we were having our exhibition this Thursday and Friday. We were the tour guides talking about our topic The One and Only Type Foundry in Taiwan- Ri Xing Type Foundry to all our schoolmates. Having many contents, however, limited time for preparing made me nervous.

Although I attended Cyberfair last year, my job for this year was quite different. Last year, I went into each classroom to deliver brief presentation. However, for this year, it was my first time that I had to give guided explanation in front of schoolmates. At first, I talked in a low voice that wasn’t loud enough. However, I became adapted to it and it went smoothly.

The exhibition this time increased my courage and improved my oral expressions. I was the kind of person who would be nervous to death even just talking in front of classmates. However, this time guiding the in front of students from all the classes at this school, we made my brief introductions without stage fright! I improved a lot. Thanks for all my teammates and teachers for your encouragement and help.

There were five zones for our exhibition. I was responsible for Students’ Work Zone. I didn’t quite get it at first and was nervous. However, after a period of time, I became more adapted to it and felt more relaxed and wasn’t so restrict for myself. My teacher also had compliments for me, saying that after the practice of an afternoon, I made a lot of progress and I looked just like a professional tour guide!

On the second day, my teacher sent me to the Experience Zone to offer help because one of our classmates there was absent. At fast, I couldn’t help but admit that I was very new and not familiar with it. Not long after, I was more adapted having my classmates’ help and enthusiasm teaching me all the works. The students in low grades and middle grades sometimes did not know where to press on for printing, did it on the wrong place or did it too hard and broke the paper. Other times, they didn’t like their works from printing because the paints were not pressed even. These were the difficulties or problems the students had in the Experience Zone. Therefore, how to cope with questions or problems immediately and instantaneously is the experience I learned from the exhibition this time.
It is my second time joining Cyberfair this year. However, it was my first time being a tour guide for the exhibition. Although the students in former years held exhibitions for Cyberfair as well, there are differences between looking at others doing it and doing it on my own. In the exhibition this time, I guided the tour in the Students’ Works Zone, helped students experience in the Experience Zone, and helped in the Guided Tour Zone. I learned a lot. Really, a lot!

The two-day exhibition was on 1/14 and 1/15. We were very busy not only these two days, but also three weeks before the exhibition. We had to design and make the poster, and to arrange the exhibition place in three weeks. The exhibition place was divided into four zones, namely: the guided tour zone, video zone, experiential zone, and students’ work zone. I was in charge of guided tour zone, "the Challenge of Ri Xing." This was my first time to be the guide, so I was a little bit nervous. Sometimes I would mispronounce, but that was okay. As long as I practiced more, my pronunciation would be better. To be a guide could train my eloquence, and could enhance my ability to express. It was two birds with one stone. I wish I could be the guide next time.
