Cheongsam Customization
How a fabric become a beautiful cheongsam? We requested Master Chen let us observe and record the process, and we put these in order as follows.
Making pattern and Cutting fabric

1.Ironing with steam: preventing the fabric to get water shrinkage.
|
2.Making paper patter: Sketching and cutting paper pattern.
|
|
3.Matching fabric and pattern: Deciding how to lay your pattern pieces out will take some careful planning.
|

|
|
|
|
|

|
4.Cutting fabric: Cutting fabric according to pattern.
|
5.Making mark: Making marks to stitch straightly.
|
|
6.Cutting interfacing: Cutting interfacing by paper pattern and sticking with fabric together with paste.

|
7.Trimming selvages: Cutting extra selvages, and ironing the fabric.
|
8. Fixing temporarily: Sewing center back seam and collar to temporarily fix fabric.

9.Sewing coverstitches: Using coverstitches machine to fix interfacing and fabric.

10.Keeping seam allowances: Using crayon to keep seam allowances by body size.

11.Sewing collar lining: Sewing Nylon lining in collar.

12. Constructing cheongsam: Sewing front, back and collar together.

13.Sewing seam binding: Using scrap fabric that matches or contrasts your fabric. Fold the strip in half lengthwise and iron it flat.

14.Binding: Align the raw edge of the seam binding with the raw edge of sleeve opening and collar.
|
|
15.Hand sewing: Stitch the other side in place by hand.
|
|
|
|
16. Trying on: Trying on cheongsam to make sure customers' fit.
|
|
17.Befrogged: Choosing the style of befrogged.
|
|
18.Accomplished: Final checking on every details, and finish cheongsam.
