The various viewpoints about builting road in Jiading wetlands of kaohsiung in Taiwan
Jiading Wetland ,which have been cut through by 1-1 road in 2007 ,from its north to south , and the current controversy for a long time of developing the case of 1-4 road in Jiading but advocated cutting wetlands. It can not be questioned , the development tend of builting road will inevitably have an impact on ecology and black-faced spoonbills ,which habitually comes to Taiwan for many years .

From 2014.7 to 2015.1 , our team , "Sinsing saving the black-faced spoonbills" had visited local neighborhood chief , secretary-General of agriculture, Jiading Village ecology association director and the younger guard Jiading several times in Jiading, understanding deeply of both sides' views about builting road will affect the ecological conservation，transportation and the spoonbills in Jiading. The following informations are the conclusions which we've sorted out from the datas we collected from network and visiting relevant local and influential people , regarding builting road of the pros and cons for discussing.

1. Who Supports the Road

The views of supporting building road: there is not possible and never will be development weather building the road or not. But biulding the road can bring us more convenience.
People: It should cater to needs of local people.

Cilou Village Ms MEI-LI CIOU :
buliding 1-4 road on the Juguang road forms a transport network. It would be more convenient for pedestrians in traffic,take going to the post office, working for examples, it will take at least ten minutes less if the road was biult , so it is not only good for local residents but tourists who comes to watch the birds . If you don't build the road, it may cause a lot of traffic problems. For instance,the visitors who came to watch black-faced spoonbills did not pulled over at the main road, but chose a path only six meters wide. It made it inconvenient for local residents to go to work,and often happens disputes and traffic accidents or other problems. In addition,the tourists who concentrate in a small way drop litters also have lower for the local quality of environment, it aroused dissatisfaction in Jiading .Besides,when it rains in Jiading, the water will rise, and attract the black-faced spoonbill coming; but in the dry season, the water will be gone,and the black-faced spoonbills will not come, so Jiading wetland is not a total naturally real wetland in definition .A real wetland’s surface of water is formed by tides, such as Yong-an Wetlands. Therefore, Jiading wetland differs from other wetlands . In addition, the visitors in Jiading buy something and then leave, even when the avian flu begins, no one can make business in Jiading , and it will not give business opportunities to this area, so building a road backs to convenient living is more realistic.

 

Agricultural Association Secretary-HAO-MING YIN :

The areas of Jiading which are true wetlands stand only the half eastern part of 32 hectares, because the water is coming of marine tidal, so far as migratory birds are concerned,the food is fresh ; and in another three meters higher side across from it ,water is provided from rainning , it is not a real wetland; because the freshwater is provided from rainning,on ten meters of surface water is propriate for black faced spoonbills to roost there, but the foods under water are not fresher than tidal, so it is not growing for migratory birds. Building 1-4 road on both sides of different wetlands is not undermine the ecology, however the visitors who watch birds from ten meters away watching birds are really doing harms to ecology,and affecting the quality of surroundings. Therefore it is ought to be building1-4 road to Juguang road in the half eastern of Jiading, ending at the Love Seaport and the places of school and working is helpful for the surrounding life. After this road is built, the government will build ecological roads and seabank around the wetlandand let touristswatch bird from long distance will not disturb their natural habitats. Finally, if you want to contribute to environmental protection, native Woods were supposed to land rather than grown on non-natural wetland, and will increase the air quality and Jiading descendants can prefer to see how the conservation of native species, rather than focusing on the invasive species, environmental problems are not be cart before the horse. If it is too focusing on the diversity of birds, so lead to outbreak bird flu, wouldn't it be serious? Such problems, environmental groups did not try to solve.
