Mr. Cong-ming Tsai (Gordon Tsai) The DCEF helped schools establish the samba drum teams. Dream Carnival parade hold on the Ketagalan Boulevard in Taipei City already became a grand occasion in Taiwan.

Background

The foundation of Dream Community was established in 2000. The local of Shichi District, Mr. Cong-ming Tsai (Gordon Tsai) founded it out of his love to Taiwan and care for humanity. Mr. Tsai's profound feeling toward his homeland motivated him to develop it with a broader view. This was the incentive of Gordon Tsai's dream of "Flourishing hometowns by natives' hands", which dedicates in community establishment, hometown beautification, and community revitalization.

Goals

The foundation of Dream Community aims at blending art into daily lives. Daily lives will cumulate the experience, and the experience will nourish unique humanity. The temporary goal is to establish the community by raising living quality and artistic atmosphere. It is hoped that residents' interests in art and cares of the environment can be fortified by the bonds between residents, communities, and groups. Eventually the foundation can enhance the vitality of art in Taiwan.

By the power of artistic truth, artistic goodness, and artistic beauty, the foundation connects residents, communities, and groups from the community establishment to festive arts. The long-term goal is to lift Taiwanese spirit and create a world-wide known local carnival festival.

Target group

The target group of Foundation of Dream Community includes not simply residents in Dream Community, Shizhi. The publics are welcomed to participate in all the activities held by the foundation.

Residents of Dream Community are provided with many opportunities to join activities and to devote their creativities. These opportunities bring residents together, and make them a group of identification. It is also because of residents' exchange their ideas of art, Dream Community becomes one full of humanity and creativity. At first, residents are individuals from different areas around Taiwan. Now they are bound together as one. The dream is no more an idea, but an accessible act. Now Dream Community has become well-known in Taiwan.

In order to benefit more people, the foundation began its touring service beyond Taipei since 2006. The services have been delivered to towns and rural areas around Taiwan. The foundation helped recessive townships and tribes establish workshops, facilitate community construction, plan Samba drum teams, hold Samba drum competitions, and promote the dream spirit "Live for Carnivalf". The foundation encouraged communities and tribes to put local cultures together, fulfill splendid dreams, and savor the joyfulness of dream-come-true.

  • The foundation was formally established in 2000

  • Mr. Gordon Tsai visited special communities around the world, and decided to invite foreign artistic volunteers to build the Dream Community in 2001.

  • The first Carnival Festival of Dream was held in 2002.

  • The Experimental Theater of Dream was established in 2004.

  • The dream shuttle project was launched to help local communities in 2006. The international communicative center of community arts was also established.
