In order to join the Dream Carnival 2012, we spent our lunch break in making masks. Before we started, we visited the workshop in Nei-Hu Community College(NCC), and saw their giant frog and spider festooned vehicle. They also had smaller frog masks. Our teacher filmed the process of how Mr. Chang made the props, and showed it to us. After watching the video, we got started to make our own props.

Fun Carnival Team visited the workshop at NCC.

First, we discussed which animal should each of us represent, and looked for pictures for references. It was very tough for us to make a decision because there are too many cute animals. We spent a lot of time to sketch the drafts as well.

FUN Carnival Team was making our masks.

We cut out the masks and colored them. The finished works were not as good as we thought, but we weren’t too upset for we all looked forward to the carnival. The first step of this experience and learning is to learn to accept our imperfection.

Fun Carnival Team was on Ketagalan Blvd for Dream Carnival 2012.

Chang Kai-shek Memorial Hall was already packed with people when we arrived on October 20th. We were amazed by special festooned vehicles, exotic costumes, and eye-catching props. We put on our handmade animal masks and capes, and got ready to join this party. We admired others’ creativities during the parade. We were inspired and benefited. We promised each other to join Dream Carnival next year with cooler decorations.
